Lighter Chat?

I have become one of those old men who fiddles with lighters all the time. Latest project is a 1920s Thorens single-claw, lovely mechanism, gives a beautiful flame without getting hot when it lights - but it's a *** for simply refusing to do its job. Zippo and Swan flints make a spark ok, although a little loose in the feeder tube and I wonder if there are fatter flints still around and if they would give a fatter spark. Wick lights okay with a gas lighter, so it's drawing fuel. If it comes to a rewick and repack, I am guessing that the cap the wick runs out of will unscrew with needlenose pliers. No American has yet made a video on this subject. Can anybody here help?

I have no idea what your question is all about but me posting this will make your question show in the 'latest posts' and maybe someone can help you. It sounds like a 'bloke' problem. Good Luck
