The Red Bag Scheme - Going Into Hospital.

Not a question, just wanted to mention what a good idea I thought this was.
It’s basically for care home residents who are going into hospital, to travel with their medications and personal belongings in one bag, and with information for the hospital staff.
An elderly neighbour (who lives alone) was recently rushed into hospital and it it took me quite a bit of time the next day to find her glasses, hearing aid batteries, toothbrush, comb etc etc.
I have now started putting together one for myself, (a hold-all with a bright red ribbon tied to the handle) which will live under the dining room table, with an obvious note on the inside of the front door addressed to the ambulance crew, friends and family. Saves everyone a lot of hassle, even if you don’t live alone.

Mrs B. depite being Episode Free now for 6+ months has kept a Bag ready to go since her first Episode in July last year. As a retired NHS Manager she knows the importance of it. She was taken in by Ambulance 4 times, the last 3, the bag went with her in the Ambulance.

Very good idea, in fact since I had pneumonia five times in one year I have kept a bag ready at all times,with details of where to find medications, glasses etc. Funnily enough it is a red bag.

A very good idea in theory. Unfortunately practically it means doubling the expense. I have thought of this but it would mean buying another laptop and mobile to take with me, on top of clothing, toiletries &c.

Jackdaw. I can’t see that at all.
We all have enough clothes that we can put some underwear, an older pair of trousers, a jumper, spare toothbrush etc etc in an old hold-all.
And in reference to your laptop/mobile, you could have a list of those whose family members/ friends in the bag who have access to your home, and the hospital would contact them. And more stuff could be brought in.
I have an old pay-as-you-go mobile phone that I use once every three months to keep it alive. It has £30.00 on it, and it will live in my ‘red bag’ for just this sort of emergency.

I have thought of doing this, but it's the 'faff' of having to double up everything. I will seriously think about it though as it is good advice. Thank you Jenny.
