One bride who is getting married tomorrow has banned the footie being shown and declared a footie free zone.

I myself would show the match as this is a special game, being the world cup and all that. If it was just an ordinary league game I would not bother.
What would you do??

Of important things in my life, Diddlydo football is way, way down the list..... Making friends and family happy and giving them a day to remember......(remember when Gness had the football wedding!)......is at the top...... Asking them to leave phones at reception?....I don't think so for a minute!... :-) Being a wedding guest is not everyone's cup of...

I would show it, because otherwise no one would pay any attention as they'd all be on their phones the whole match.

And this poor bride was kicked out her venue so they could show the world cup!!!!

Definitely not and I would ask guest to turn their mobiles off, too.

I am not a Football fan so that wouldn't bother me, however if I was her Husband to be I would have a quick rethink of my plans for the future.
I asked if it would be possible to show England v Wales still x nations match at mine, with a strong Welsh contingent among the guests it would have been fun. I was a great believer it was the groom's day too. They slaughtered us as it happens
Six nations

Yes I would...and did.
Yes.
Were it me most of my guests would be Irish so looking at what I'd do for them if Ireland was playing (anything!) I have to say....yes, I'd show the game...

Apart from during the ceremony which would be over and done with quite quickly I'd embrace it rather than have it as a distraction....
Large screen......tables and chairs placed to see the screen well.....little flags for the guests and a waiter with a bottle of fizz waiting to be popped at each goal.......well not the opposition's goals of course....

Lots of folk who don't bother with football become fans for a while.....it's fun and I'd make the wedding part of that fun...... x
Definitely NOT show it and ask all guests with manners to leave their mobiles at a secure place in reception. Confiscate any mobiles when seen. End of. There are far more important things in life than football.

Being a wedding guest is not everyone's cup of tea....to be there when you want to be watching a game...well that'd be a miserable wedding atmosphere.... :-(
I would- if enough of the guests were interested. Only the actual match though without the before and after rambling I think.
Maybe, If I had to have a big wedding. I'd be irritated but I wouldn't discount it and if I did then I'd incorporate it into the day properly so everyone could enjoy it, they are your wedding guests after all. If you can't beat em join 'em, people would simply watch it anyway and possibly not attend, but then I've never wanted a big wedding, just me and the person I'm marrying and immediate family and friends, preferably somewhere natural like a beach or forest, so I can't see that really being anything I have to worry about.
Definitely NOT...I would cancel the wedding.
I agree with her. World Cup or not, the wedding would be more important to me.
Yes- why ruin a good football match with a couple of attention seekers getting married in the middle of it. Lol :-)

Diddlydo, I don't agree. Putting on a good day that people will remember would be priority. I agree with Gness!
^^ BA Pixie ^^ x
I'd show it, I can't see the harm (but we had a break between the day and evening part of our wedding so I could watch the Brookside omnibus).
