We were watching his tribute show last night, I like the guy and find him quite funny sometimes, he seems a really nice chap. But he has lost so much weight ! I hope he is not ill, does anybody know if the weightloss was intentional ?

//The 59-year-old was inspired to lose weight after he was diagnosed with various health problems, vowing to himself that he would cut back on sugar, booze and biscuits.

Talking to The Mirror Lenny said: “I've lost between two-and-a-half and three stone, I was big. You've got to eat no sugar and drink hardly any alcohol... all the stuff you like. You can't Hobnob your way through the day.”//

Glad to hear he is not seriously ill. Yes, I am afraid to say, that's the best way to lose weight, cut out all the goodies like sugar, booze etc.
I think he looks great.

I watched it last night and found it funny. Didn't expect to.

I think when large people lose weight we often say unfairly that they look ill. If he'd always looked like that people wouldn't say he looked it ill. It's just one of the few advantages of being overweight is your face tends to be very plumped out and wrinkle free with no bone structure visible.

True Prudie. I thought he looked great, but I hardly recognized him, until he smiled.
He still doesn't look his age though.
Do you think that when people who are getting on a bit lose a lot of weight it makes them look gaunt and ill around the face and might they look younger and healthier if they are a bit of a chubby chops?
I once thought him funny, but when he started having digs at white folk and getting involved in politics, he went down in my estimation.

Although I didn't watch the programme, I did catch a quick glance of him preforming on the Black & White Minstrel Show.

"The very idea"!!!!!!!
I thought he was very entertaining.
Yes, AOG,had he stayed in the minstrels he'd have shown he knew his place
I didn't see last night's show but also saw him in interview and he did look a bit gaunt, glad he isn't unwell.

AOG, at the age of 17 or so lots of budding stars take roles they may later regret.

//Henry's first manager was Robert Luff, who signed him in 1975 and gave him the opportunity to perform as part of the Luff-produced touring stage version of The Black and White Minstrel Show. In July 2009, Lenny Henry stated he was contractually obliged to perform and regretted his part in the show.//

I do like him.
He's alright Lenny..He's so down to earth and funny. He's done very well losing all that weight. Good on him!

'Contractually obliged to perform' but not forced to, easily said after picking up his fee.

There is a name that describes such actions.
AOG - he was young.
Well maybe I cut an eager 17 year old performer wanting to climb the ladder a little more slack than others might, we're all different.
ummmm

/// AOG - he was young. ///

Oh you mean before the 'brain washers' had got to him, so as to instruct him into what he should offended over?
Seems a multi-talented fella, I thought he just read the news.
Aog, you're floundering now - I'd leave it there.
Naomi moans “Can't stand the man so I didn't watch“.

Don’t suppose he’s too keen on you (or your views) either.
