Well put it like this, if it was so easy and bad publicity was truly better than none then every aspiring actor would be being crass,manipulative and ridiculous and just saying to their publicists to 'spin it for them'.
As it is if I did something like this I think my publicists would be kicking my *** into the middle of next week because some things work against you, and imho this is one. People will drop you flat over something like this as I'm sure she'll find out.
