Eddie, we know it's not real; but these soaps have four or five storyliners, a Senior Storyliner, a team of about a dozen writers, as well as numerous assistant producers, and a producer. How come they can't think like the people watching think, and fill the plot holes?

I used to know woman like Ena and Minnie, old ladies with their pinnies, head scarves, curlers and sharp tongues.
Women like that are long gone in real life - they may still have their sharp tongues but they dress like their middle aged daughters and are too busy to be on the church cleaning roster.
