I’ve got no issue with this. Whilst a fan of Cruise I’ve never read the Lee Child books but often hear friends & colleagues bemoaning the fact that he is some 10 inches too short to play the 6’5” Reacher.
But if so, who fits that bill? Apart from Johnny Bravo there’s nobody springing immediately to mind!
Hoping Child fans abound on here and will voice input.

I heard Lee Child interviewed on Radio 2 not so long back and he gave the impression that the reason Cruise is being replaced is that he doesn't do tv. He then went on to say that for the tv series, an actor of the right proportions would be sought. I have no idea who would fit the bill but said actor would have to be of a certain age to have done as much military service as the book character, be of the right height, not too cute but fair haired and blue eyed. Which, thankfully, rules out a certain Idris Elba who is touted for many tough guy roles.

Jim Cavaziel for me, after watching him in Person of Interest the way he moved and spoke he was Jack Reacher as I'd imagined him.

I was one of the thousands of Reacher fans - I have read all the novels except the current one which I am reading now - who was outraged when Tiddly Tom was cast as Jack Reacher, and I pondered just how much money Lee Child was paid to say nice things about this gross miscasting.

It's not only a matter of height - Reacher has a presence, the feeling that he's not a nasty person, but he can be if he is pushed, and Tom Cruise couldn't act that if he lived to be a hundred!

Liam Neeson remains first choice for the role - it is tailor-made for him.

I love the books and have read them all but have struggled to read the last couple right through as Lee Child seems to have somehow gone off the boil a bit.Midnight Line was terrible.

I saw that Dom doo dah once on Oxford St - the one that does claimed and shamed....no caught red handed. He was one of them once.
