Would Normal Gloves Be Okay To Wear While Riding My Motorcycle?

I have a motorcycle now: would normal gloves be okay to wear while riding, or should I buy some motorcycle gloves?

Some people believe that usual gloves are okay when you are riding your bike or scooter. But I would recommend you to buy gloves designed specifically for motorcyclists.
Reason is simple. They are made for people riding motorbike – so you are getting lots of benefits wearing them while riding.
First of all, motorcycle gloves will protect your hands. And I am saying not only about possible accident. Even during every day riding they will be in handy. Thing is when you ride your motorbike your hands are exposed to the weather. So if you are riding not for just a few minutes, your hands may get wet with the rain or cold and stiff in the winds. Moreover, they can get hit with debris and they can become sore with holding the handlebars. Also, of course, hands, if they become greasy or wet, can lose grip on the handlebars. Motorcycle gloves help to prevent all of this:
They protect your hands from the weather and debris.
They provide support to make it easier to grip the handlebars for longer.
They give you a better grip on the handlebars, providing you better control of your bike.
Finally, because motorcycle gloves are designed to come higher up the arm than most of the usual gloves, they help to ensure there is no bare skin between the gloves and the sleeves when you are riding.

Motorcycle gloves are the best option because they will give more protection if you come off....proper trousers too. Motorcyle gloves will protect against the weather too...nothing worse that losing the feeling in your hands when you are riding along in the cold. Protective trousers/ chaps too....keep yourself as safe as possible...you don't want your body to look like minced beef should you slide along the road on your bum/legs.

Good advice by Terry.
Wearing gloves all year round is essential. Leather is the only way to go but not necessarily thick heavy hide.
My 55 years of motorcycling taught me to always have a light pairmof waterproof overmitts as leather gloves soak up rain like a sponge and become very uncomfortable in Winter.
Likewise a pair of at least over ankle height leather boots are essential. Never light shoes or trainers.
Remember to protect the minces.Small piece of grit at speed will blind you.
Hope you have many happy safe motorcycling years ahead of you.

No weecalf the last three I had was a Indian Enfield 500cc Bullet, BMW KI00 and a BMW RS 100. Had Yams,Hondas Beezers,Triumphs and a Velocette Viper but never saw a Mitts ubishi.

I would add that an abrasion proof jacket and trousers are a must as well as boots and gloves. When you come off and slide down the road, the road will abrade off your normal clothing, skin then subcut fat and muscle like a cheesegrater. Google for pics if you don't believe me. It makes me feel sick to my stomach to see folk on motorbikes, even small cc ones, in shorts and a tee.

Spend as much as you can offord on helmet, gloves (with protection), and specialised jacket, trousers and boots.

I had a friend come off a bike at low speed in a t short and shorts, he was one gigantic scab and in a lot of pain and very very poorly for months- use your protective gear.

Last thing you want next to your skin when you do a gutsa and throw your machine down the road is a nylon jacket or overtrousers. The feiction melts the nylon and should that molten nylon get into abrasions from gravel rash you are in a world of hurt.
Hope we don’t sound discouraging but sensible clothing against the wrong type will ensure you enjoy biking and not suffer as a result.
