I was watching TV early this morning and the announcer said that Last of the Summer Wine was the Queen's favourite programme, which made me think 'does the Queen have to buy a TV licence?

No, along with everything else the Royal Family needs and uses - the tax payer stumps up ... again!

Of course the Queen doesn't have to buy a TV licence. She has staff to do that for her.
I think she's old enough not to qualify, isn't she??
So that's why the crusty old clunker has been dragging on for so many years (er, Last of The Summer WIne that is, not Her Maj).

As a person over 75 she is, like any other person over 75 allowed to have a television with a special licence which costs nothing.

If she lived in Ireland, she'd probably be entitled to a medical card!!! That's a card given to low income households to entitle them to free medical care, over 70's are entitled to it regardless of income!
