That takes you up to 1960. May I suggest you get Halliwells Film, Video & DVD guide. It's a guide that seems particularly keen on older films, but seems a little harsh on modern productions. Sorry, if the list has bored you stupid.

Ice Cold In Alex is an all time classic and well worth a watch, if only for the final scene with the Carlsberg!

I have to stamp my seal of approval on two films already mentioned: The Philadelphia story and Mr. Blandings builds his dream home.

For British film's what about: Spring and Port wine, Billy liar and A Taste of Honey.
