I can't see another thread about this, sorry if there is. Anyone watched it and has any views? I've watched the first two but not sure if I'll carry on. It's all rather harrowing so far. I used to have such a thing about Richard Gere too.

Sarah Lancashire's character is leader of the opposition and hoping that Max Finch (Gere) will support her bid to become PM. The sacked female journalist (who has just months to live) is doing an expose on Finch and his newspaper along with the journalist who still works for The National Reporter.

I watched the first 40 minutes or so of the first episode, then I switched off. Up to then, the dialogue was incomprehensible, there were too many meaningful looks. In short, I couldn't understand what was going on. But when the plot descended into almost-pornography (in the scene with the prostitute and the son), it ceased to have any semblance of interest or entertainment.
We've watched one so far, going to watch next Wednesday. A bit confusing so far but find it very intriguing. Will keep with it..
I feel exactly the same Prudie, not sure where the story is going and it all seems a very strange story to me. Think I will continue to record it but if the next episode continues along the are lines will give up on it.
I agree with Bookbinder - very disappointing.
I'm quite intrigued by it, so far, and will continue to watch until i am no longer. Not as if it clashes with anything on the other channels now that Cheat has finished.
"Almost pornography". So we saw a man's penis. Wow.

The second episode was better than the first IMO but it is all a bit confusing so far. Not sure where the Sarah Lancashire character fits in nor the sacked female journalist. Maybe I didn't pay full attention. The sex was pretty graphic and not in a sexy way - I know my in-laws were horrified :-)

My mother father is god for me
I was turned off by the review in the
Mail, but watched the first episode on
catch up, and I think I'll give it a go.
I'm enjoying it.

I'm resurrecting this as with one episode to go I wonder who else has stuck with it? I've found it more and more confusing - by not paying full attention - and there are several storylines I don't get.
