I'd have printed and framed the expression on Dave's face.... :-)
A friend popped in for coffee yesterday and was telling us about the sound problems they sometimes have during their am dram productions.

Dave said he could probably help with the sound and if needed the lighting.......

The gets things done in the village chap who produces the plays called in this morning to discuss this with Dave......

Within minutes he'd told Dave he has a good, strong voice so this is the character he has in mind for him in Ibsen's An Enemy of the People.

Dave has now headed off to the village for the first read through.....wondering how on earth this happened...... all he did was offer to help with the sound.......:-)......Bliss......x

Oh dear! He’ll never leave.
The Steve McQueen role?

Cooo.

He can't ever leave....he has a list of things he seems to have been signed up for!

Coo wasn't what he said, Mamya....Paddy assured him he needn't worry......all his lines will be performed from behind a podium.......I have discovered that Paddy tells all new folk that.....but nobody has ever seen a podium......this will be fun... :-)
You’ll be roped in to be treasurer or something soon, Gness. Stay away from the ‘gets things done in the village chap’.

It'll be costumes I think, Jo...... and I'm happy with that......there is so much going on in this village it'll be hard not to be involved. But that's great when you want to meet folk and fit in....
Went to my first crochet, cake, coffee and chat meeting today until some of the ladies had to go to rescue a two day old lamb that had been attacked by a fox.
Do any of these village activities involve poteen, gness ? ( if so sign me up as Daves understudy ) ;-)
I'd put Gness in charge of props ...it'd be wonderful to see the cast improvising when the props are all left in a locked van in the next county, and the sets suddenly start burning
Question Author
They will of course, Tony. Join us even if only for the do at the end. I’ll make sure there’ll be no gravy or wine!
That could lead to extending the run just for the laughs, Jno... :-)
good play
is there more than one ending ?

Are you sure that the 'village chap' wasn't Linda Snell in trousers??? Adopt my motto, never volunteer for anything!
'No' is your best friend.
// The Steve McQueen role? //
ya mean the Jussie Smollett role
it doesnt end very happily - I am trying to think if this is the one where Ibsen wrote a few of them ( endings )
no ..... yes - - - it is nice to be wanted ....

my brudda was into am dram and it was a dark day ( which we now dont talk about ) when he became too deaf to pick up the cues ....
Question Author
No idea til Dave returns, Peter....sorry about your brother.

A charming Linda Snell, Zebo......and saying yes here is going to be fun...... but I know what you mean..... :-)

no point in talking about it if he can't hear you, PP...
What a picture! ... what a photograph!! ;0)
I have a suspicion you'll both get right in to this. There will follow ... after show drinks and nibbles at yours :0)
he's there for life now Gness. I used to help out at village am dram (not this village) and I did all sorts of odd jobs : helped with sceen shifting; costumes; fetching cups of 'coffee' from 'cafe' (the star) across the road and prompt. but that is a Gness-style story.

His life will never be the same again.
Zebo, spot on. I thought it sounded like an episode from The Archers.

Next Dave will be in the cider club.
Question Author
I think we will, Eleena.....but I'm not laughing now....I have to read all the other parts as Dave learns his lines....hadn't thought of that... :-(

He is here for life I think, LJ.....we're struggling to find the time to go back to the UK already...x

It'll be the poteen club here, Hoppy..... :-)
You both sound as if you're enjoying the craic, Gness. Long may you continue to do so. x
Line Learner App Gness- total lifesaver! x
