Bear with me, Ive imbibed a few sherberts here....
Have spent the day decorating for a friend and have to (unexpectantly) return tomorrow.
But got home this evening and opened my kitchen tilt and turn window (I live in a high rise) and its come of its runners and is now hanging precariously by only one hinge. Its not safe to be left as it overhangs a street.
Just rang the council and was told that someone would be out tonight or if not tomorrow (when I cant be at home)
I told the council that It needs to be seen to as an emergency because its a danger to the public below . The young slip of a girl on the other end of the line told me to just be in and put the phone down...
Ive a long time ago gave up fuming at beaurocracy but this is taking the P****.
Just concerned about someone below getting hurt, no skin off my nose if my windows knackered, I live 3 stories up, not as though anyone is going to break in!
Just peed of at trying to report a danger to the council only to have the phone put down on me by some young girl who...in all fairness...probably doestnt want to be there anyway!

Question should have been,
If window fell out on to the street, whose fault would it be?
Theirs. Can you pull it in at all to make it safer?
Good luck with that.
Taking my leave now for a while to let posters cool off and me needing brain rest.
Speak in a week or so.
Take care, theland xx

A week or so??
Nah, make it a day or so Theland. Don't be so dramatic ;-)

//Can you pull it in at all to make it safer?//
No Pix. Its wedged as far as pulling it back in.
Had the council out to it at the weekend as well because it wasn't 'running' right as well. Now its hanging of its hinge.
Well, you've let them know, nailit. I'm not sure what else you are expected to do. Let's just hope they are right...

Possibly Baldric.
Anything else that you wish to nit pick at during your moment of boredom?
I would ring police of danger & they could barrier off the area below & call out emergency glazier
is there any reason why your window is the council's problem? Is it a council flat? If my window breaks, fixing it is my job - and if it was likely to be a danger to anyone, it would still be my job to fix it, only faster.

Not Nitpicking, just asking, up to you how you phrase your posts,
it's just always good to know.
It is a Council flat.
oh, that's fine then, thanks mamya.
You're not asking, Baldric....you're nit picking as usual and making yourself a bit of a laughing stock again.

Nailit.....report it to the police then you've done all you can.....x
she may have not wanted to be there, but hey, she WAS there, on a bank holiday night to help people. Good on her. Now someone has to come out to a dwellimg occupied by a drunk person to fix stuff - great!
Can you not secure it with rope or flex temporarily tied to something immobile?
I had a window fall out. It was one of those decorative type small window, serves no actual purpose.

Just missed a car parked outside and thank goodness no one was walking by.
What a pane.
