Police are trailing facial recognition cameras on Britain’s streets.with or without the public’s knowledge. One chap who pulled his jumper up over his mouth as he passed was fined £90.
I think that is is a great idea in the lawless society of the UK in which we live, providing that it doesn't catch one, dating someone else's wife...;-)
I don't think people need to be warned about it. At football matches police actively look for banned supporters and those offenders wanted on warrant. Hopefully the technology will help them.
I know, hc4361, I was being a little ironic. That's a fair bit of money to spend for no results at all; might it have been more usefully given to the NHS?
That report is from 2016, I hope that facial recognition technology could save many man hours. The report doesn't say how much money would have been spent on the extra man power required to do the same job
However, as venator implied, a segment of the population always have their face covered so how does it work in that situation?...Obviously it doesn't and won't.
