Free Speech? Political Correctness?

I find it difficult at times to have a conversation where I have to watch what I am saying, that could be the reason I make so many blunders on here,
My daughter is forever saying you can’t say that dad,or that’s not said anymore,my personal opinion is that it has gone to far the other way,yes there are some things should not be said and in saying that I find that the use of the F word in every day speech has become like god bless you to an awful lot of people.

As you all know on AB I am no Psychiatrist and my knowledge of Psychology is at best basic and at worst nil, but knowing Jordy over the years, as I have although i have never met him, is that he was born in Scotland of a working class family, probably many siblings,in the 30's above average intelligence but for whatever reason did not go on to further education....

sqad, not necessarily. When I was working, I came across quite a few people whose only lasting symptom of stroke was a change in personality, including one lady who changed overnight from a shy unhappy and reclusive person to a social and outgoing one. Those of us who saw her in hospital and had never met her before weren't even aware of the change until we met her neighbours and the vicar of her church!
Its interesting though isn't it that there do seem to be people for whom a diagnosis of stroke or head injury seens to equate to being "not right in the head"

Worked hard all his life, not accepting any handouts and brought up a family with the main input from his wife.
At a time when swearing Gays, transvestites were gender identities were not something that one would be interested in
Times have changed and like many others of that generation find it difficult to come to terms with.....it is that simple to explain the thoughts and actions of Jordy.

If that's aimed at me then you are so off the mark in understanding my comment I almost feel you are using it as best form of defence is offence.
I quite clearly suggested that if in the middle of a spat in news someone asked a poster if they'd had some kind of head injury then it would not be a genuine question, it would be a way of saying you must be mad or whatever phrase you want to use - and insulting to boot.
Anyway it's a pointless argument, those who can't see it might have upset Jordy however really surprise me.

The trouble is that you come from a time when you could say what you liked....and you liked what you said. You didn't have to consider the impact of your words on the thoughts or feelings of the recipient. And if they found anything objectionable *they* were the damn rude one for mentioning it.....
There has never been a halcyon time where 'strong' language was not used by women, especially working women. Where do you think the phrase 'mouth like a fish-wife' comes from.
I told my son that there was nothing grown-up about swearing.....the grown-up part was knowing when was and wasn't appropriate to use it.
