Just watched the final episode. What a pleasure this series was, and proof that the BBC can, if it really tries hard, produce programs of quality.

I've recorded it ... but have been dithering about watching it lest it should prove to be time wasted. On your recommendation I shall re-think that. Thank you.

...and now watching the final part of the Alan Clark Diaries. Opening scene is the ageing rake in his castle m playing Stormy Weather on the piano under a leaking roof.

It's a factual account of her premiership, Naomi, with comments by all the insiders, cabinet, personal secretaries etc.

Devoid of the normal BBC animus.
really enjoyed all the episodes. like her or not it was excellent viewing
I watched the first episode tonight. I'll watch the rest. Thank you, v_e.
I can recommend it Naomi as I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Heseltine's face when he was asked if he liked her was a picture!!
The series surprised me by how many people said nice things about her, praised her and admired her. I wasn't expecting that.
You popped up while I was typing N.
BTW, I'm back in Gilead now:-)
Perhaps they don't like to speak ill of the dead, LB. ;o)

I was surprised by the emotion it raised in me. Conviction was something she didn't lack.
LB, //BTW, I'm back in Gilead now//

Great! So was I ... until my husband fell asleep on the sofa tonight - and I know he wants to watch it. :o(

Cue Mrs Thatcher. :o)

TGL, what more can we say?
LOL Naomi. I've become so used to people saying nasty things about her, especially on here. She worked so hard. I don't see Boris doing the same I'm afraid.
TGL just sums her up Baldric. Don't expect to see her like again.
I'll say goodnight now the dog's gone to sleep. xx
Yes getting by with 4 hours sleep and a glass of whiskey
Thanks for that Clover.
//Charles Powell said he believed that Thatcher never had another happy day “from the moment she had to leave No 10”. Probably true. An exceptional series.\\
How sad.
I’ve just watched the last part of this.
In 1989 Mrs Thatcher said “We have not successfully rolled back the frontiers of the state in Britain, only to see them reimposed at a European level, with a European super-state exercising a new dominance from Brussels.”
Even 30 years ago, she could see what was coming.
And here we are now with a bunch of insincere, Muslim hugging, career chasing back stabbers vying to lead this country.

Bernard Ingham remains fiercely loyal, doesn’t he?
