I love all the science involved too Woofy. And I think Fiona is excellent, as is the other presenter who really knows his stuff. Wish there was more television of this quality.

if you put it up to the ctee and they say 'non' you have to agree their decision
the ctee said non and so onto the pyre it went
there was another where they authenicated a piccy
because the arteest - Lucian Freud - wouldnt authenticate any of his pictures he disliked
and he had written in this diary " saw an earlier picture of mine which I said wasnt because it was awful" !!

No, that was just a committee in France that decided that. I can't mind on whether it went to court or it was destroyed only on their say-so.
The programme establishes the evidence and then an expert is asked to give an opinion on the authenticity. For some painters there are recognised authorities and their word is final.
The Chagall destruction was extreme to put it mildly. Even copies may be worth thousands so I'd be a wee bit dis-chuffed if that had happened to one of mines.
