has anyone been following this new David Attenborough series. The last one on Asia was very interesting, but why oh why do they always show animals being killed in one way or another. I know that its about the law of the jungle but some of the footage was really hard to watch.

some very graphic elements and a stronger than average message how we are destroying our planet..

Emmie, i guess what they are trying to portray is just how difficult it sometimes is for these animals to survive. Particularly in habitats which are disappearing for whatever reason. I don't mind watching the 'kills' because on other Attenborough programmes, he has shown that most hunts do not end in a kill and the predator goes hungry.

the walrus seals was particularly gruesome, falling off the only safe for them to perch.

I didn't understand - and it wasn't explained - just why they had climbed up there in the first place. Yeah, i did hear him half joke that they wanted somewhere a little quieter but i was a tad baffled. It must have taken one hell of an effort to 'waddle' their way up the rock-face. I never knew they could climb.

it is because where they would normally congregate in such huge numbers, was on the ice, which gave them sanctuary, where now the ice is decreasing at an alarming rate, they have no where to perch, so some climbed the precarious rockface to get off the overcrowded space, leaving them to face the predatory polar bears. Hopefully that makes sense

surprised that no one else watched it, it was fascinating and somewhat gruesome at the same time
