So how does he square his getaway to Mustique with his new year message re being "friends and equals"? Frankly, it stinks.

Sorry - typo "hypocrisy"!
he is allowed a holiday surely, its going to be a busy year for him and the cabinet. cut him some slack for once.
i think he is being quite genuine in his speech, let us be friends, this is a good thing surely
Maybe you expected them to take a week at a B&B in Scarborough?
For gawd's sake give it a rest Diddly.
i don't think it hypocritical to wish people well, after all i have done that already this morning.

Davebro - yes. At least he could then be among the people who "lent him their vote" after they'd been conned by him.

Emmie - you appear to have misunderstood my point. The hypocrisy is in the lavish holiday while pretending that we're all equal - we're not and never will be with this Tory government.
How does that compare to the hypocrisy of Sadiq Kahn, who is so concerned about polution in London that he charges vehicles for entering and then sets off 12,000+ fireworks. Could they have used lasers?
he spent time in the North after his election win, speaking to the people, what more do you want him to do..
so Labour people don't take expensive holidays?
Diddly the only thing that stinks around here is your incessant whinging about Boris. A short break to wherever he chooses is his choice not ours and gives him a chance to recharge his batteries for the road ahead. The people voted by a very big margin to give him a chance so why can't you.
Ah so in your ideal world under Labour nobody could afford to go on a nice holiday. Glad I didn't vote for them then.
I don’t care where he goes on holiday but I read somewhere that his and Carrie’s flights are being paid by us, the taxpayer. If that’s true, it’s not fair.
// but I read somewhere//
Not very convincing, have you a link?
Reports say he paid for their flights himself. If he can afford & wants a nice holiday wouldn't it be more hypocritical to deny himself that privilege?
Cloverjo, form the Times:-
//Mr Johnson, 55, who is in the process of getting divorced from his second wife, and Carrie Symonds, 31, paid for their British Airways flights but have accepted the accommodation as a gift./
So the cost to the taxpayer is zilch.
Cloverjo, I have seen a couple of links for his break and both say he paid for the flights himself and flew economy.

I thought he was so keen on "getting Brexit done" so why is the House of Commons apparently having a nice rest? The only public holidays were/are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day so why aren't they at work in the intervening days?
