I heard on the radio that the idea was originally Korean (I presume South) and an American tv company bought it.
Their stars in the odd costumes actually seem to have been stars and not z listers.

With all due respect to Patsy Palmer, if you've never watched EastEnders or followed any showbiz natter in the papers, would anyone really know? (or care?)
