An Aside To Mamya's Song Thread
The following shows the lyrics from the song which I am about to post on Mamya’s song thread tonight. There is no English version on YouTube so it is derived from my own translation which I have cobbled together from a combination of the French and Russian versions which are given, using Google Translate (unsurprisingly they are somewhat different).
My reason for creating a separate thread is so as not to clutter Mamya’s thread where the emphasis should be (IMHO) on the songs with minimum text. Incidentally Mireille also sung other versions about Maman, but this one I think was in celebration of her Mum’s birthday. The words are lovely.
Mireille Mathieu - Mum
What is kinder and more tender in the world, than a Mum’s heart
Who can understand us better than anyone
And calm all our torment?
To the one who gave me life
My song flies full of love!
Mum, its for you alone that I am singing tonight !
Mum, your grace and tenderness delight me!
And it doesn’t matter that years have wrinkled your dear face to me,
And if I see little by little falling snow on your hair
For me you always keep your sweet smile!
And just like in the past, my only happiness is to tell you Mum
As soon as I opened my eyes –
You immediately took me in your arms, hugging me
And sometimes whole nights
You cradled me singing a song.
These memories reminded me
Now it's my turn to cradle you!
