Further Help With Sony Xperia Setup - I Have Done Something Wrong!!
9 Answers
Hello again Buonchico and anyone with experience of SonyXperia.
Have carried out all the points you answered thank you and phone is working for texts and calls (I did not bother to download my own ringtone after all but chose one from the list. My problem now is this:
Going into sounds and down to ringtones and notification sounds the list are empty! I have retained my original choice for phone ringtone and when someone calls me that works. However the text ringtone (is that under notifications?) does not work at all and I only get a buzz sound.
A message says something like no Xperia sounds present. I have tried downloading an APP for Sony Xperia ringtones and that App is saved and when I open it all the sounds are showing. I clicked on one and it played fine and at the bottom left there was an icon which I pressed and there was a list which said ringtone, notification and another one, I pressed notification and it highlighted but...when I went back into the sounds list it was not there! I am now completely confused.
Anyone out there with this model phone?
Thanks
Moggie

On a Z3 you should be dragging the green icon to the right to answer a call.

Thought I would update you all on my progress! Could not retrieve the ringtones at all so I did a factory reset (only took a few minutes as new phone and nothing downloaded to it).
Everything is back as it should be and I have set my ringtone and the one for texts. May i ask one final question please......................
Phone ringtone I understand as it is listed under sounds as ringtone. Under this on the list it says Notification Sounds and presuming this meant for incoming texts I set this up and indeed that sounds when I have a text. So..........................
What is Media Volume is that something separate and not a ringtone? Also, I noticed there was a different sound which I had not set up when I received GMail. Is that always on smartphones or can I delete it?
That's about it - everything else seems fine. I even found how to add my Greek keyboard as a second language!
Thanks for all the help

Can I please ask another question - help?
Phone is working well but as new to smartphone having trouble answering a call when phone rings.
When the phone rings it opens up with a screen showing a photo icon (no photos of caller of course) and on the screen is the callers number and if I tap the number I can answer the caller - but some calls I cannot answer the callers number and at bottom of screen is only the red phone icon to finish the call - I tapped and swiped the screen but cannot connect to caller. Then call finishes and then the callers number is there and I can tap this and call them back!
I have noticed (maybe this is problem) that if the caller is in my contact list I can answer ok by tapping screen but if as today my Sis called from a different number not on my list I could not answer and it kept ringing. I have noticed this a few times with calls since I set up my new phone a couple of weeks ago. Have I set it up wrongly as my g'daughter has a smartphone and she just seems to swipe the screen to answer and talk.
Please help me.

Thanks for fast answer Buenchico
I did not realise that! I got someone to phone me when my phone was sleeping and it opened up and there was an open to open it by swiping right. That worked and I answered them.
Next I asked them to ring me when my phone was open (not sleeping) and this time a 'box' at the top of the screen gave me the option to answer or decline. This time there was no swipe option at bottom of screen.
All working now and thanks again

Can I bother you again please?
All ok with the calls now but have just noticed one thing I never put on the phone (I don't think!)
On the home page at the top let corner every day I open the phone there is a little icon that I can hardly see. If I click on it and swipe downwards it comes up with news flashes I never asked for and I have to remove them each time by clicking 3 little lines under the newsflash. Under that there is always a weather detail for London (I live in Shropshire)
They do not appear again until I switch on my phone in the morning - I switch it of at night
Thanks again
