I thought Simon's criticism of the guy who sang Largo al factotum from Rossini's The Barber of Seville showed his ignorance of classsical music, I was appalled at his comments particularly when he implied the audition was going on for too long. Surely he must have known the song lasts over 4 minutes. I think he mentioned to another auditionist that they had 2 minutes.
I think because it was peppered as a comedy at first didn’t help the Russian fellows chances, if he’d come on and just sang , he would have gotten through, just my thoughts
Cowell was encouraging Amanda to 'stop him', disgraceful! I was so pleased at the end when the other 3 judges took the micky out of Cowell and then gave him 3 yeses
I only watched part of this as I thought he was a good singer and was a bit annoyed with Simon's handling of it, so I'm glad to read on here that he got through.

As advised, this is not an 'audition process' - this is television entertainment - it's scripted and edited within an inch of its life.
A genuine audition process would be as entertaining as watching paint dry.
It would consist of those who made to the microphone performing for about ten seconds, and then the shout of 'Next!' - no-one's idea of prime time viewing.
