Does anyone remember a TV programme series about renovating houses in Ireland? It was some years ago and I can remember everything about it clearly except its name.

No, this wasn't the series of programmes. It was similar to 'This Old House' which was an American series very popular in the UK at one time. Derelict shells and houses that had fallen into disrepair were completely redurbished. This Irish programme may even have been in TV in the UK as much as 20+ years back.
