After repeatedly letting down this once great nation, most recently over the Last Night Of The Proms songs, the left wing BBC omitted to include Labour MP Tom Watson from last night’s documentary on Carl Beech, despite Watson’s scandalous key role in that fiasco. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8652661/BBC-edits-Nick-documentary-victims-say-Tom-Watsons-role-scandal-airbrushed.html
Should the BBC now be scrapped?

That’s not good enough, Ken. We’re paying for a service that we expect to be impartial. It is not.

Nope - bbc news not worth it they are completely biased, (as Are any news channel I guess). The “Beeb” is still good for other telly tho, their dramas are good
"I don't see how that can possibly render you a worthy judge." How condescending of you - almost downright uppity! Where, in any of my posts, Naomi, do I say I never watch anything other than dramas on the BBC?
Ken, you did say you don't pay your licence fee for the news or current affairs but only pay to watch dramas so just why are you arguing this? Do you not recognise BBC bias - even though people like their political editor have been justifiably accused of it?
They definitely banged the Remainers drum regarding Brexit.
// For example, asylum seekers living in four star hotels.
Not a peep from Aunty until Nigel Farage highlighted it. //

Firstly, it is not news. It has been Government practice since 2018. The mystery is why it took Farage (and Theland) 2 years to find out.

Secondly, the BBC reported on the practice long before Farage decided to make a song and dance about it.

The BBC (British Bullshouting Corporation ! !) should stop paying ridiculously high fees/salaries to so called Celebrity Presenters.
( Theland named one at 9.58 today...Gary Lineker.. who is paid £1.75 million pounds p.a.....I'll add another....Chris Evans £1.25 million p.a.) Then what about some who work for the BBC and, additionally, also for companies from whom the BBC buy-in programmes (eg.Question Time. ) Another money spinner for retired BBC staff is being re-employed by the companies who make programmes such as 'University Challenge' and 'Mastermind'. Furthermore, BBC Celebs are able to pick-up nice sums for a few after dinner speeches.....
Fiona Bruce and Huw Edwards, the newsreaders, Emily Maitlis, the Newsnight presenter, and John Humphrys, Evan Davis and Edward Stourton, the Today programme presenters are the names of some who were on the circuit (and possible still are ).

Incidentally, I agree with the BA given to Naomi and all ABers who consider the BBC to be far from impartial.

Hans.
University Challenge is made by ITV at Granada Studios in Manchester. What Paxman gets paid is nothing to do with the BBC.
The SNP hate the BBC.As you would expect.Hopefully the Beeb will be going strong a lot longer than Wee Burney and her nationalists.
@Gromit.....I know that University Challenge is made by ITV but Jeremy Paxman worked for the BBC and the programme is being bought-in by the BBC.

Hans.
it's not relivant in this age of multi platforms of choice! pay if you want..remember all the blm protests and statue destruction, not a hint of illegality from the bbc, almost like, it was a good thing, the bbc controllers want to change the face of britain through the back door.
it's totally woke and full of bavel gazers, it's basically out of date
subscription service is the way to go, if you choose to.
Regarding the licence fee, I feel that for less than 44p per day I get a wealth of viewing and I am happy with that on a personal level.

On the impartiality or not of the News and Documentary content, I rarely satisfy myself by accepting one view and will often look deeper using other methods into a story that interests me.

I do agree that some of the top salaries are hefty and that could do with looking at to free up funds to finance more good programming.
Changing the face of Britain through the back door is maybe not the best way to go about it.
You need to in through the front - otherwise you will only change its backside
A nice littler earner for Mr Linneker amongst others, this is an outdated institution that should be consigned to the history books
If you want Drama etc, it should be pay for view
Pay for view? Maybe, but only if it's cheaper than the license fee. Otherwise picking and choosing what to watch according to what an individual or family can afford will cause all sorts of other problems.
the licence is mandatory -that is what I don't agree with. No one makes me subscribe to Netflix or Sky, I do it because they provide programmes I am willing to pay for. The BBC is outdated and the requirements for a licence ridiculous. I'm not paying mine -I keep getting letters but I'm not paying.
Definitely not pay per view drama. Sounds a bit pricey that to me.
Pasta, it could be worked on the same premise as other P.F.V, roughly a drama will last around 12 episodes ,they could charge as a box set, I dont want to pay £157-50 but I'm too much of a coward not to :0(
Pixie has repeatedly said on this forum that she doesn't watch any content covered by the Licence fee and they have told her she need not have a licence.

I on the other hand watch terrestrial TV every day.

Therefore you can opt out of paying if you don't avail yourself of anything provided via the licence.
See, Bobbi...I'd never pay that. Paying 44p per day, as mamya says, is far better value. And I can watch what I want from numerous channels.
I do agree that the BBC needs streamling, and has to make cuts in their pay structure.
