Well, I can't speak for anyone else Gully, but Tora and I were discussing our differences, no arguments from either side so far as I can tell. Maybe your problem is that you see any contrary opinion as an argument?

How exciting, can't wait.
Its a well paid job with expenses, so not pointless to them.
They could almost hold their meetings in a phone box - there must be perks to make anyone want such a pointless job.
Oh dear, are they still here? I thought that they’d left and walked into a forest.
And following closely in the footsteps of that other doyen of good common sense, Jo Swinson, Layla Moran, the woman who a couple of years ago suggested children as young as 11 should get the vote (since retracted) and extols the virtues of the Extinction Rebellion movement. Happy days.

Ed Davey has "won".
Not To worry, it will give the Con's chance for a little Respite, Until Boris Makes his next mistake , and that will not be, far away.

Whether or not it's the most pointless job *now* is moot, but it clearly shouldn't be. If elections are reduced to just two plausible choices then that is not exactly something to be proud of.

On the other hand, the Lib Dems have to blame themselves for that; the last ten years have seen some sadly disastrous decisions on their part, even if at least some of them made sense at the time. Going into Coalition with the Tories was probably their only viable shot at having much actual influence, but they seemed to waste those five years and angered more or less everybody in the process, and it's not clear that they've really recovered from that or will any time soon.
Haven't seen the word 'moot' on here since TheDevil flounced. Still, at least you use it correctly.
I always, like, do my best to talk proper, innit
'moot' can be used in two ways.
1. to convey that it is a point probably not worth discussing.
2. to suggest that a subject might be worth discussing as no previous conclusion has been reached.
