I’m trying to get hold of a copy or any more information about a drama series on bbc2 in 1975 called The Wild West Show. It revolves around a group of Rugby League players. I have looked on IMDB but there isn’t much on to be honest.

Was it possibly Trinity Tales when they were all on their way to the Cup Final at Wembley.

No - it’s strange that followed it in the same time slot on the same channel bbc2. This series was written by Colin Wellend whereas Trinity was written by Alan Plater

That link gives a smidge of info (from the RT listing) on the 6 episodes (out of order, for some reason). Because "The" is in the search term, it's highlighted throughout. I haven't cross-checked the info with IMDb.

Well to be perfectly honest I would have liked to have bought a copy or maybe a link to any clips that might be online
I think that you'll be out of luck trying to find a DVD of the series. Only around one or two per cent (at the very most)of the BBC's output ends up on DVD, mainly due to rights issues. Unless there was already a reference to external distribution in the contracts of those involved, the BBC would have to negotiate individual contracts with nearly 50 different actors (or, to make it more complicated, with the executors or beneficiaries of their estates), together with Colin Welland's estate, etc, etc.

There's nothing on Youtube either (which, as VCRs didn't become common in the UK until a few years after that date, isn't particularly surprising).

As the open-reel video tape used by the BBC in those days was very expensive, it was common practice to wipe the majority of tapes, for future re-use, soon after a show (or a single repeat of it) had been broadcast. So the chances of the programmes still existing at all would seem to be quite low.

All that's left in the public domain seems to be the information on IMDB and the listings from the Radio Times:

It does exist according to these people, who know their TV onions. https://www.tvbrain.info/tv-archive?showname=The+Wild+West+Show&type=lostshow They are also the people who the BBC might allow to show a copy at an event.

The BFI lists just 3 episodes, which from this don't appear to be available for viewing.

There was a chap on Youtube who posted a few bits of other unreleased stuff. Called himself British Yesterdays then The Good Old Days. Couldn't seem to stop himself posting masses of stuff that WAS on DVD and got both those channels taken off.
