I made a point of watching it to see what the fuss was about. In my opinion, the complaints were entirely justified. The dance routine was a carefully orchestrated piece of propaganda for an obnoxious racist political Marxist movement, and based on the unfortunate death of an obnoxious career criminal.

I didn't see the routine, but from what I gather, it was a 'dance' re-enactment of the death of George Floyd and an homage to BLM.

If that is the case, then my view is that this is an inappropriate platform for a political message, and I would side with the complainants.

Me too, but I thought the complaints would have peaked by now. There seems to be more and more every day.
I agree andy.
I didn't see it either, but i understand that, alongside BLM, the dance also covered the Coronavirus outbreak. 10,000 complaints? The average tv audience for BGT is approx 8 and a half million, so that's a very small percentage.

I won't be looking at that eleanor, I didn't watch it first time round.
Question Author
It's still a lot of complaints, I think Diversity didn't expect that.
Had it been solely on one topic then it would have been out of place, they built on an earlier poem to reflect things that have also happened this year and I thought it a good message overall as I said on the earlier threads.

Let's hope the positivity of the last line contains some truth.

From what I remember the reenactment portrayed George Floyd as lying there peacefully until a policeman knelt on him to stop him breathing. The death shouldn't have happened but it was nowhere near as clear cut as the performance portrayed it
For those that want to watch margie. It didn't belong in an entertainment show imo.
Entertainment has long touched on topical issue, be it war,the bomb, peace, discrimination etc.
the reason more complaints come in is that some people (who didn't watch it or didn't really care enough at the time to complain) will see there has been loads of complaints and think "should I be complaining too"? "Yes!"
Question Author
I agree Eleanor and that's what all the complaints seem to be about. I saw a clip and they were all down on one knee, that was enough for me.
Many public disagree mamya.

No idea bednobs, no idea.
Mamya - // Had it been solely on one topic then it would have been out of place, they built on an earlier poem to reflect things that have also happened this year and I thought it a good message overall as I said on the earlier threads. //

Several times, I have heard comedians say something like -

"Would you like to reinterpret that statement using the medium of modern dance?"

which is usually a dig at the overall up-itself attitude of modern dance making 'political statements' in a stuffy un-entertaining 'right-on' fashion.

And now we seem to have a dance troupe actually doing that without any irony whatsoever.

As I said, I cannot speak from a position of strength because I haven't seen the clip, but it appears that trying to make a political point during a frothy Saturday night entertainment show for a mass family audience has been seriously misjudged.

There is a time and a place, as they say, this appears to have been neither of them.
Just watched the clip - first time i've seen the performance - and i must say, those 10,000 people who have complained ought to look up the word 'Snowflakes'.
That's 10,000 people with nothing better to do than be offended.
Many public are entitled to disagree, and some have.
I hadn't watched it until I read about the complaints. I found it so I could make my own decision rather than make a decision based on the views of some others which many seem to be doing.

Fantastic routine and a message worth listening to.
