A Question Of Racism?
64 Answers
Following the news that the presenter Sue Barker and team captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell are being axed from A Question Of Sport, there is much speculation online that their replacements will be “people of colour”...though admittedly that is yet to be confirmed. If it does turn out to be the case, is that not racism against Caucasian people - firing them because they are white?

I think this is all part and parcel of the BBC’s £100 million initiative to increase diversity - and I don’t believe for a moment that Theblip is guilty of possessing a fevered imagination, as charged. Unlike some he doesn’t appear to be in denial of the current fad for ‘woke’ that is hurtling at break-neck speed across our society. I don’t understand the...

I haven’t watched it for a long time can’t stand the three of them.If it became more about the quiz and less about the personalities I would watch it again.I have a particular dislike of Sue Barker after she shoved a microphone into Andy Murray’s face after he lost a Wimbledon final,no wonder he burst into tears. So no tears from me for these three.

I don’t understand the determination of those who champion ‘diversity’ to deny that ‘diversity’ is the aim when clearly it is - but they do. Racism comes in many forms but some are more invisible than others, and even more invisible if you keep quiet about it.

Diverse team:
Host: Mark Chapman
Team Captains: Micah Richards, Sam Quek.
Diversity in race, gender and age.
Chapman's a great host, and his appearances on MOTD2 and The NFL Show shows that he doesn't take himself too seriously. Richards has impressed me with his punditry so far. Intelligent, entertaining and seems up for a laugh. Quek is recognisable, experienced in shows like this, token female for representation and eye candy for the fellas.
Deal done. Hire me Beeb.

Theblip - // It’s like living in a dictatorship with one person imposing their opinions and dismissing those they don’t agree with as being from “a feverish imagination”. Andy Hughes, WTFDYTYA? //
You really do need to calm down.
I am someone who expresses my view on any given subject, which makes me the same as anyone else on here.
If you think that represents a 'dictatorship' then you need to use a dictionary, and try taking a few deep breaths while you look for it, your three posts to register your dismay at my post is two too many.

Mozz - // The problem the BBC now has, is that they have made a rod for their own back. Anybody they hire who isn't white is going to be seen as fulfilling the diversity role, whether they are a good fit for the job or not. //
I'd agree, that is a very real danger.
The irony is, having decided to address the inequalities of minor ethnicities, the BBC may be hoist by its own petard - having to put people in post on the basis of ethnicity, which is the very problem they are supposed to be addressing.
Deciding that 'white' bias is wrong, and attempting to correct it with an equal and opposite 'non-white' bias somewhat defeats the object, and makes the BBC look stupid - and that would never do!!

That's not quite what I meant Andy. My issue was that any BAME faces are now going to perceived as fulfilling diversity quotas, whtether they are best candidate for the role or not.
By shoe-horning ethnic faces into roles they not be best qualified to fulfil, the BBC are belittling the efforts of BAME people who have fought to get themselves up the BBC ladder. If Trevor McDonald or Moira Stewart have begun their careers today, they wouldn't be seen as respected journalists by some people, just the BBC pandering to wokeness.
Your point is correct too, just not what I was trying to highlight.
