Mrs sqad who is an ardent Strictly Come Dancing (SCD) fan was appalled attention antics and switched it off after 10 minutes.
She complained about the false atmosphere of the incessant clapping without an audience and the behaviour OTT of the "luvies."

It's not like you to submit such a mangled post, either, Sqad.
they all get a bit excited don't they?
It’s strange. I don’t usually watch Strictly but husband does. Last night I was quite enjoying it but after half an hour he said ‘I’m bored with this’ and changed channel.
I always hate the clapping, ruins every song. There are very few songs in which clapping is permitted and only at specific points. Eg Radio Gaga!

Barry...LOL...unfortunately it is, as at times I start a sentence and then forget what I was going to say, plus the fact that my concentration level is dwindling along with my interest in AB.
But you are quite correct.
Its strange you should say that Cloverjo, because I felt the same. I never normally watch it but after half an hour I turned it off, I got bored with it and all the hype.
I enjoy the actual dancing but can't stand all the luvvieness. Saw the last half hour last night where partnerships were announced. All were so excited and delighted and couldn't wish for better partners blah. I wish one of them would confess their actual disappointment.

Anton du Beke [Tony Beke for 'tis he] did seem to be announcing his 'delight' through gritted teeth though. As is his wont.
It would have been better if they had just shut up about covid and bubbles. the Antiques hunt program has been making socially distanced programs and they just got on and did it.
But there *was* an audience, though it was socially distanced they said. Yes, a bit too much chatter. Hopefully it will improve with the live shows.

pasta......Mrs sqad said there WASN'T.......LOL.
Anton seems at last to have given up the Just For Men
There was a live audience. The warm up shows are usually a bit naff but when we actually see them dancing it's much better. I already miss bruno.
I quite agree it would be much better to see how they genuinely feel about their partners than all the ott "couldn't have picked anyone better" guff
And yes anton did look a bit grey
I don’t or have ever watched SCD. I’m curious sqad do you share mrs. S choice in tv programs ?
The show certainly had a different fell to it for obvious reasons, the reduced live audience and meeting their partners at various locations - I'm sure it will flow better once the competition and dancing starts proper.
They should ask the celebs which pro dancer they would prefer BEFORE their partners are announced, that'll put the cat amongst the pigeons!!
I switched off after 30 minutes. As others have said, I found it boring.
I have given up on Strictly. Too much pretentious barefoot modern dance and tacky group dances for me. Not enough basic ballroom as in the past.
Last year we both felt it had finally done its time and weren’t going to bother with it this year.
However, due to COVID and all the repeats on tv we decided to give it a go. Despite all the over the top raving about everyone getting their perfect partner, we both really enjoyed it, particularly Bill Bailey’s contribution. It will also be interesting to see how the same sex partnership is executed/developes.
All in all, ‘‘twas better than expected.
'' Keep on derncing! '' Yuk!
