Do You Still Have Your Landline Phone

I do as well as us both having mobiles, a lot of my friends have got rid of their landlines but I'm loathe to do this ( dunno why)
Internet goes through a landline , doesn't it?

many people here seem to be unaware that there are swathes of the country with no, or at best, a very poor mobile network signal, so a landline is essential

I haven't had a landline phone in decades, and neither do any of my friends or family. I do pay for a landline as part of the Internet package... but I can't seem to find a way to not need one at all.

If I coukd save by not having mine I would have it taken out but I have high speed internet here and wouldn't get that with a Dongle would I?

Yes. Signal not that good with mobile, Kept in car in case of emergency. Mobile that is not landline.

22.12. Exactly the same as jourdaine. And only a few people have our mobile numbers. They are turned off when we are home. Our house phone doesn't accept anonymous calls!

We would not get rid of our landline although we both have mobiles which we turn off at night.

I'm amused that people seem to object to paying for a landline when they don't have a plug-in phone. The landline provides connection to both the telephone system AND to the internet. It's up to you what you use it for.
And, there are limited ways to get internet without a landline..

I've asked BT on many occasions if I can take my telephone 'package' off my Broadband but they say no. However, I only pay £23 per month for broadband and that includes the phone package with free weekend calls -but the phone has not been plugged in for at least three years.
We use vodaphone here but have to have a booster signal box as the reception is a bit dodgy. I would never go back to a landline.

Yes and would never consider getting rid of it. Use it for most of our calls because our mobile phone signal is pants. I agree with up there, lots of areas of the country don't have a good signal and people don't realise. I have between 0 and 1 bar with vodafone at my workplace. Same for O2. Only EE works there.
