I Just Do Not Understand It ??

Just popped to local spa shop for paper, bread and bits and bobs for next door.
Passed a solicitors office on way back with 6 cars on forecourt. Presumably staff or clients, but in any event presumably members of different households.
Why then is it more dangerous and indeed illegal for different household members to meet at work but not in each others homes. I would suggest that homes are safer than office buildings.

I go into the office and sit with the same 5 people round a table for a morning meeting everyday, we are distanced but we don't wear masks as company policy is we are in the same bubble (and note mask wearing at work has not been made compulsory by the government). We also all go into each others' offices through the day. I only put a mask on if I go into another section.
However we are not allowed to go out for a Xmas meal together as a group.
