Not overkeen on Tipping Point or its presenter, but it’s recently been made more difficult to watch by the addition of a ‘signer’ in the bottom right of the screen.

Have I pressed a ‘settings’ button on my Virgin box, or has everyone now got the signer, whether they want her or not?

This is NOT an ‘anti-sign’ post; I have defective vision, so understand the need, but I’d also like the option of a clear screen.

Barry. Finally checked more closely on my recorded programmes, and while it might make you smug, I have to concede that you are right!

I AM going mad/gaga/etc.

Oh well, at least I can’t blame the booze.

I’m glad you’ve solved the puzzle, Allen. If you have a V6 box or TiVo you can set your series recordings to ‘new episodes only’. Frustratingly this option is not available on Virgin’s latest box so it is recording seemingly hundreds of episodes of everything. Arrggghhh!

Oh, apologies too to Bednobs, who also tried to put me straight and who I also poo-poohed. Abject apologies. Put it down to a geriatric reversion to certainty. I’ll be more cautious in future.
sometimes people on AB do know what they're talking about; that's what the site is for...
glad it's sorted :)
i bet it's lovely having Mrs Allen home
Maybe the signer has had too much booze over Crimbo and the New Year and is all out of sorts...popping up when they shouldn't?
roopower, Spoken commentary is had by pressing AD button on remote.
My remote hasn’t got an AD button, I have to press the button with three dots, scroll down a bit and click ‘audio’.
// Why do signers have to pull silly faces while doing it?//

Part II signing - you dont do the lip queues which all of us use - so "Happy" look Happy, "observe" look quizzical
"Trump insists he won the election again" elicits an interesting spectrum.

They do a board to get on tel - signs clear and accurate. and obviously prepare their translation.

Thanks Bednobs.

Mrs A is home, and life is much better.

There is unfortunately a new reality we both have to face. She has leaking heart valves, which they won’t treat due to her age and general condition.

We are together, which counts for so much.

Many thanks for your concern; it is a comfort.
