Not at school, but a guy who was on the committee of our local Con Club was Mark Bright's estranged dad. When Mark was due to be transferred from Crystal Palace, his dad said he was in talks with rivals Blackburn Rovers. Someone remarked that he would not be welcome in the club if he signed for the 'enemy' and his dad said he would have a word. Mark Bright duly signed for Sheffield Wednesday and his dad said that's what he had advised him to do. Years later, after the man's death, i saw a documentary where Mark Bright and his sister sought out his birth father. In which it transpired that Mark had been abandoned by his dad at a very early age and had not had any contact with him in over 20 years. After meeting his father, Mark said that although the meeting had been brief, he had discovered all he needed to know and that there would be no further meetings.
