I think young children are very quick to 'pick things up'. My youngest grandson got a few toy cars and trucks for Christmas, including a remote-controlled Police car from me. Having watched his mother unscrew the covers in order to insert the batteries, and remotely control the car's movement and flashing 'blues and twos', he then picked up the screwdriver and looked at his other vehicles to see if he could do the same with the others. He is 2 in April. And, yes, his mother has put the screwdriver out of his reach, just in case:-)
