Dogs Behaving Very Badly

Channel 5. Does anyone watch this? The man is a genius with problem doggies. I’m trying to remember all his advice for when I get my new dogs.

I think he makes it look far too easy. Anyone who has trained a dog knows it takes, hours, weeks, months even to get goid results from training, he makes it look like he's solved it in minutes.

I know it would be boring for the viewers to follow the whole process but it should be made clear it takes a lot longer and a lot of hard work.

Watched this show again tonight, the dog has been aggressive to the husband after he had a stroke,

Im surprised Grahame didnt twig that the guy was now walking with a crutch, the dog was obviously threatened by it.
But that was never mentioned.

I once attended the filming of an episode of Barbara Woodhouse training dogs with problems - they chose the ones that could easily be corrected and practised many times before actually using one clip of the dog doing what it was supposed to. A couple of dogs were not actually used in the programme because she could not get them to co-operate.
In the same programme they also visited a pony that would not load onto a trailer - it belonged to a friend of mine and it took hours to get it on board, but miraculously on the tv version Barbara Woodhouse blew up its nose and it walked straight up the ramp!

I don't have dogs Naomi but I like watching this program. It strikes me that it always boils down to the same thing though - behaviour that is rewarded, is repeated. Behaviour that is not rewarded, is not repeated.

Where the owners seem to go wrong is they don't realise when they're rewarding bad behaviour.

However, I'm a bit sceptical that every problem seems to be solved after about ten seconds of the dog whisperer's training.

If only it was that easy!!!! Also adequate exercise for the dog is never mentioned and it's well known that 90 % of dog problems are caused by lack of exercise and mental stimulation, especially in working breeds. I also don't believe that G.Hall can really train any dog in just one session as portrayed on the TV program. It's obviously heavily edited to make viewers think GH has extroidinary powers in dog training, when most of the problems he 'solves' are common problems caused by ignorant and inexperienced owners.
