I remember my now ex asking his mum in 81-82 if AIDS was being talked about in the UK. We were still in NYC. Her response was total ignorance...I mean that in the sense of it not being in the news...yet. I know we were shocked as there were daily news reports on our side of the Atlantic.

Binge watched the whole series today/tonight. Quite decent but full of shallow characters in whom i could find much empathy. Though there are some poignant scenes, it's not exactly a tear jerker, imho. And am i wrong in wishing someone would slap Ritchie's mother (Keeley Hawes) more than a few times?
Just binged watched the first three episodes on my own (OH won't go anywhere near it). Poor Gladys, that made me cry. Exceptional storyline, fantastic acting, and from what I can remember of the 80's an accurate depiction of life for some at the time. I confess I FF'ed some of the sex scenes which I found a bit too graphic for me, but I do that with hetro scenes sometimes -just me...going to watch episode 4 this afternoon.
