Stammerers

There's been a lot on the media about stammerers this week and it reminded me of something I meant to put on here a couple of weeks ago. I was on the phone to a call centre and the chap who answered had a stammer - he was very efficient in dealing with the reason for my call and very pleasant, and I have to say I admired him for that, but I did wonder what would make someone with a stammer take on the job of talking to people on the phone. I can imagine it being a very stressful job at the best of times, but to do it with a stammer I felt was very brave (hope that doesn't sound condescending).

Why not? Not everyone with a stammer finds talking stressful.
