I watched a really old episode yesterday. I know that Lionel and Jean are the main couple but who are the other adults living with them, and why??

We used to watch that. MrG always said he knew how poor Lionel felt. Living with Jean was like living with me.
When he was dying he arranged for his coffin to be brought in to the theme tune.... :-)

Oh gness lol.

So I must be reading the cast list wrong - so they have their two adult children living with them??
No, they don't have children together. Judith is Jean's daughter and Sandy is Jean's secretary and Judith's best friend. Jean and Lionel got married later in life
I mustn't complicate Smo with my family details... :-)

What did raise a smile, Smo was when the coffin was leaving the theatre I had a song he sang so well and loved played.
It was Do You Hear The People Sing from Les Mis. I hadn't taken into account that everyone would start marching to it.... :-)

Barry so why did Judith and Sandy live with them??

Gness that really did make me smile x
Probably to annoy Lionel, Smo..... There were a few bathroom moments. ;-)
Having met gness, I can testify to the Jean endorsement.....

great comedy too - as she is.

I had the chance to met Geoffrey Palmer in Tring (where he lived) - a really, really nice bloke - and a cracking foil to Dame Judie.

Question - should we nominate Gness to a Damehood, just as Judie has achieved? TTT probably has his contacts in #10......
Thank you, DT but no thank you. I'm Irish....British Empire?...... :-)
Question Author
I’m half Irish too lol.
Half is fine, Smo...could get you a passport. ;-)
Honorary as in (Sir) Bob Geldorf - (Dame) Gness ...surname masked of course.
and useful for booking airline seats or hotel rooms for upgrades!
'Fraid not, DT. A close relative was offered one this year. I held my breath but she did the right thing and turned it down with a polite.... thank you, but..... :-)
Much as I like Geldof and liked Wogan it should have been a no.
I must say that I agree...but honorary knight and damehoods are there for other nationalities too.....
I know that, DT....but is still goes against the grain for me.
Actually, a serious question - does Ireland have an honours system in some format?
No formal honours system, DT. The Order of St. Patrick was established by Britain hundreds of years ago but hasn't been used for a very, very long time.
The constitution says that titles shall not be conferred by the state.

The Catholic Church gives out honours and so on but I doubt they will ever trouble me with one. :-)
I'm not sure but I think any order or title offered to an Irish citizen has to be approved by government.
It's not unusual for a young woman to live with her mother, is it?
