We are used to naff answers to questions on some of our tv quizzes but surely, this one takes the biscuit. And on Mastermind of all places.
Spent an hour catching up with the first 2 episodes of the new series, tonight, and cannot rec all which episode this particular question was in. The question went something like, Which member of the Royal family gave birth to her first child on 9 Feb 2021?" The woman's answer? "Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother." I kid you not!!

Okay, it would still have been five years out, but it's an error of not listening closely enough, rather than gross stupidity. (I still very occasionally find myself thinking of the date as 19.. rather than 20.. having spent so much of my life there.)
Of course it’s not always advantageous to avoid saying pass: I’ve watch contestants waste valuable time trying to avoid saying one simple word while struggling to avoid it!
I agree with jno: that’s more likely a question of not paying attention to the date. But if the answer given really was “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother” then that’s a ridiculously longwinded answer when time is of the essence. They could have maybe fitted in another question if they’d passed, and possible avoided a tie, which is the only time it matters
