...programme in which you would like to participate?

Reading Barsel's earlier post:

I think it would be worth travelling to Manch to appear with peter pedant
and rowanwitch would like to do Pointless.

I have often said that I would love to be on Bargain Hunt because I often assess the actual value of items. I don't think I would suffer from nerves.

I was on 15-1 in the late 80s. It was absolutely terrifying when I was asked questions and my mind just went blank. I tried not to catch anyone’s eye in case they picked me! In about 1982 I was on a programme hosted by Paul Daniels called ‘Odd One Out’. It was on the BBC and we were put up for two nights in the Royal Garden Hotel Kensington. Our daughters came with us but...

If you are a fan of Bargain Hunt my advice would be not to apply. What you see on the programme is very different to the reality and I think it could spoil your future enjoyment of the programme.

Wild horses could not get me in front of a tv camera,
The only one I would consider and then change my mind about is Countdown. Quite good on my sofa but nerves would be my downfall.

Two friends went on Bargain Hunt. A real disappointment as they were not given the freedom to choose that they expected. They were pushed into some items they'd never have bought.

I might consider a bit part in Midsomer Murders though.... :-)

gness, would you last in the part to the closing credits?
Well I would try to be one of the few who do, Choux... :-)

I have been a fan of Countdown, though I am not always keen on the celebrity overseeing the show. I have forfeited the programme in the past. I do enjoy both letters and numbers which I do mentally.

The Chase appeals to me until they ask about modern music/artists/films. If it happened in black and white I probably saw it or hummed it.

Good for you, gness, right up to the arrest then :)
sixth form challenge ( third res) 1966

15-1 - got to final four in one prog - awful journey to Lundy one day only. 2000 - replayed a few weeks ago

thinking about only connect - - anyone ?

ten of us - no tenable

I am prepared to swot. Prof - 5 dictionaries - mod hist: who is what in 19th cent novel (*) etymology, mod lit, and a fifth ( Pears possibly). It IS terribly boring. - certainly as boring as "you read a dictionary" sounds ( well five)
Spot on...then I'd send for Barmaid.

We record and whizz through annoying guests on Countdown and even more so since Anne Robinson took over.
(*) Leigh Hunt ( Byron and all that) turns out to be a doctor but cant stand ill people
and is the fey one in Jarndyce v Jarndyce who WON'T go into Ester Summerson's room when she has small pox....( and I think has sold on Esthers brothers name to the Lawyers ( Vholes) who ruin him)

Impressive, Peter, well done. Wish I had seen that repeat.
'The Chase' against Shaun Wallace. His 0 passes to my 2 in the 'Mastermind' final in 2004 is a ghost I'd like to exorcise.
A mate of mine auditioned twice for Countdown but didn't get on. He plays Popmaster on the radio & once won it.

I would love to have a crack at WWTBAM.
Just a Minute for me....
Question Author
I can understand that, novalis, but well done anyway.
Question Author
DTC, I can think of a couple of "erudite" posters here who may be better at Just a Minute than you ;)
Told this tale a couple of times on here. Back in late 70s/early 80s, i auditioned for a gig on Sale Of The Century. Place of audition was the Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester but no Nick Parsons, unfortunately. We 'hopefuls' were split into groups of 3 (i was with an older guy and a woman about the same age as me - mid 20s 20s) and waited our turn to be called into a room where we were seated and given 'buzzers'. Questions were fired at us at speed and i answered about 2/3rds of them - most correctly. I didn't get the gig, but i was amazed to see the woman on the programme a few months later when the series was actually aired. They obviously wanted beauty, not brains :-)

davebro, would you set your safety net at £32k?
//davebro, would you set your safety net at £32k?//

Hoping I would have 2 or 3 lifelines left & hold on for 125k!
yes Ken - I think "if the camera likes you" probably plays a part!
Question Author
Some confidence there, davebro!

Bit of a slap in the face then, ken.
