Watching the Xmas films on 5, it seems that Xmas is celebrated lavishly. Is it like this where you live, all quaint & jolly??
Having spent one Xmas in Miami, I never saw none of this.

Christmas is celebrated lavishly in New York. It's magical! There really is a Father Christmas ho ho hoing and ringing his bell on practically every corner. Just like in the movies.
I’d agree re NY , santa stands outside of Macy’s clanging his bell and there’s garlands and big red velvet bows around lamp posts , the carriages in Central Park are festooned with large wreaths too
Bobbi .... I've been taken by the elves ....by sleigh ...to see Santa in Macy's. He gave me a colouring book and crayons to keep me occupied on my journey back to the UK. Such a hoot! You'd have loved it! Well, you'd have laughed at me anyway, :o)
Oh dear, I would hate it. Everything seems to have to be bigger and better in New York. You would have to pay me to go there!
Certainly not my experience in Vegas - in fact very little celebrations at all.
I loved seeing the snow banked up ( albeit dirty snow) and the steam rising through the grids, sadly we saw homeless people actually lying on the grids in cardboard boxes to keep warm
Lottie, wherever you go in the US, it's all so familiar. Not much comes as a real surprise. We've seen it all in the movies.
Bobbi, did you go to Central Park in the snow? Beautiful.
Naomi, as in Breaking Bad!! ;O).
The States have never appealed to me except, of course, the scenery.
That's a shame Lottie. I tell everyone they should visit New York...even if it's just for the people.

Bobbi...sadly, there are homeless everywhere nowadays.
My Dad went to the States on business back in the 60s. I remember he bought my Mum and I back presents of panty girdles, before they were ever soon in the UK!! A Strange gift! I couldn't imagine him shopping for such things.
Yes Pasta, no more than my own home town
Naomi , loved CO seeing the ice skaters and everywhere was decorated , CP in the snow is very Christmas card like , when we there a young man had the rink cleared, he was an excellent skater and zoomed around the perimeter then stopped, took a young lady’s hand and led her to the ice where he knelt and proposed, how’s that for romance ?
CP not CO …Central Park
Haha! I can’t say I ever came across Walter White, or any of his cohorts, lottie - but once in a queue a bloke looked at me quite threateningly and growled, ‘You skippin’ me?’ Me skippin’ him? Wouldn’t dream of it!! Yikes! :o)
I do miss Breaking Bad and Better call Saul, Naomi. Nothing ever will match it for me. So Brilliant. We were hooked for weeks!! Dinner followed by BB. Perfect!
Proof regarding New York Christmas (best Christmas song ever!)

I guess it's all happening in New York then. In Miami, the houses are decorated with lights like here, but that's as far as it goes.
I’m in the process of rewatching BB, lottie, and will follow with S’all Good Man. Nothing like it!
