Now anyone who knows of Eddie Kidd knows that he was a brilliant motorcyclist, did the most amazing stunts, and did at least 3 Bond films. Never broke a bone until that fateful accident when he basically fell 20 ft at least, was severely injured and lost the ability to ever walk or talk again.
This episode, hosted by Paddy McGuiness, who I don’t normally like, was just incredible. Part of it was when Paddy took Eddie and his permanent carer for a drive in a soft top car, and had arranged a massive drive by of many bikers, who all either saluted or waved to Eddie. And right at the end Eddie managed to just about raise his right hand to salute them back, and smile. Wow, that really got me. Very very moving, and even with all of his disabilities Eddie managed to smile at everything that was set up for him to watch. Totally changed my opinion of Paddy too, well worth watching.

Hi Mamya. It was wasn’t it. And didn’t Eddie still have such a lovely smile x
It was a lovely film, very well-judged & handled by Paddy.
Question Author
I actually didn’t realise that Eddie had lost his power of speech.
Smow, yes - Eddie was beaming - quite wonderful.

I know Paddy isn't everyone's cuppa but he's a very bighearted and genuine fellow.
Question Author
Mamya, no I agree - Paddy isn’t - but you could tell that making this show for Eddie meant an awful lot to him.
I actually saw a Eddie Kidd show in our local town.

Not a fan of the new Top Gear but might just look for that episode.
We watched it Smow.
What a brilliant dare devil he was!
Such a lovely face too.
Even with his disabilities, he still got that handsome smile.
I do my know who was the most excited, Paddy or Eddie :-)
Such great and a little emotional viewing.
Just watched it now. Very emotional and a wonderful tribute.
It raised tears and that's not usual for me. Still very handsome and, yes, beautiful smile. I must admit I don't like Paddy McGuiness very much, but that tribute was wonderful.
is that the first one of the new series?
Yes, Series 31, Ep 1 0f 5.
just watching it now, great tribute.

I stumbled upon it accidentally, but I’ve watched the bit where they drive in the white open top car, with all the bikers going past, at least 4 times today, and I’ve shed a tear every time.
I've just finished watching it Smow, and only because I saw your thread. Had a tear in my eye through most of it.
Very well made, and superbly presented by Paddy.

Thanks Smow x

Question Author
Hi Sam, it’s beautifully filmed isn’t it x
It brought back a lot of memories Smow. Remember as a kid watching Eddie on the TV, and thinking (wow) !! What he could do on a bike was totally amazing, and breathtaking. A fantastic tribute to the guy, and so well presented and deserved.
