.....at The Cenotaph Remembrance Parade last week. Not that I saw anyway. I mention this because one of the conditions on my e-ticket for entry said that all participants should (not must) wear a face covering unless exempt. Throughout the entire parade and service, I didn't see one person wearing a face mask; not the police, parade marshalls, participating military, politicians and ambassadors, the Royal Party, participants in the parade or the crowd, who were 10 deep in places. Not a facemask in sight. This means that people don't see the need the one for now. Because there isn't any need for one. And they're useless anyway. But you can carry on wearing yours if you think it's doing any good. :o)

Wear all the face masks you want, Sanatize all you want, Social distance all you want, Youre stuck with Covid. Just like the flu or a million and one other virus's ....

i wear one on the bus that is all, there are repeated messages on them to wear one to protect us all, so i do. Most people are adhering to that here on the buses at least.
I don't recall anytime during the pandemic that we were expected to wear face masks outside in the UK.
it was on transport particularly and in close quarters say in shops..
The Government advice for the event stated,

"Consider wearing face coverings in crowded and enclosed areas where you will come into contact with people you do not usually meet."
It isn’t mandatory to wear one , like Emmie , I wear one on public transport and I’m keeping away from the shopping malls this Christmas ( though I’ll miss the festive music etc)
i no longer wear one outside, if challenged then i would put it on if in Boots or other shops, but i carry it with me just in case.
It was outdoors....

I have to wear one at work. I still choose to wear one where others do, such as on the bus, as I wouldn't want to unknowingly carry it from my high risk workplace and pass it on to someone who may get very ill. That doesn't make me a mug.
I wear one in shops (don’t use public transport much)and other places indoors, but that is obligatory. Outside you don’t have to. Just come back from Lanzarote where, like the rest of Spain, it is compulsory in shops, public transport along with bars and restaurants until your drink/food arrives. It was much more clear cut. They were hot on it too! Anyone forgetting to put theirs on was greeted by the yell “maskeria!” By the check out people, and if you didn’t have one they shouted “fuera!” “Out!”
I tend to be surprised more and more when I see people wearing a mask, they are definitely in the minority now.
Isn’t it ironic that some were clamouring for a ban on “face coverings” some while back.
I thought this the other day as I entered a shop in my black woolly hat and black mask.
Looking no doubt rather like a letter box :-)
The latest study, published a few days ago in the BMJ, says masks do work...cutting cases by 53%.

Dave and I watched a news item from Leeds railway station and were astonished to see only one person leaving the train and wearing a mask. It's just crazy.
We had also read that link, Pasta. A very good read and, while it must be so difficult to accurately research this, to say wearing a mask is useless is pure stupidity.
See a lot of youngsters wearing them outside round my mothers place, she stays close to two schools.
When I’ve went into shops, most people are still wearing them.. probs +90%
When I’ve been to football matches, most people do not wear them… like myself
I wear a mask in local supermarket but feel uncomfortable if it gets crowded and shoppers of assistants get too close. I’m old and with multiple morbidities …….covid would likely polish me off.
McMouse, social distancing is the best aim, leave, if it gets crowded.
Clarion, even the government first suggested masks, to "give confidence" because after that lockdown, the economy needed boosting by people going shopping. They even said that.

The only thing that bothers me with masks, is that it might give people a false sense of security. If you wouldn't do something without a mask, don't do it with one.
McMouse - a mask is not going to save you.
diddlydo
McMouse - a mask is not going to save you.

Nothing will save anybody
But vaccines and a mask and social distancing give you a better chance of prolonging life
I don’t wear a mask to same me, but to protect others from me. I maintain social distancing even though it’s not mandatory.
Pasta, do they give any information about those 6 studies?
One question I have, is why face coverings can't protect against covid, in hospitals or care homes- but become more effective in supermarkets? Where they are less likely to be "tested"?
"I wear one in shops (don’t use public transport much)and other places indoors, but that is obligatory."

It isn't obligatory.
