Although I am not a fan I find it bizarre the BBC waited until the conclusion of the F1 season to decide if Lewis Hamilton should be on the shortlist to win this trophy. Why for example is Raheem Stirling on there can someone remind me what he won.
I noticed a few years ago they started to only nominate sports persons from sports shown on the BBC, which cut down the contenders greatly over the years! No idea what they base it in these days, or why on earth Fury is in there. Sterling did his bit in the Euros I guess.
Raheem Stirling has joined Marcus Rashford + some staff 'poached' from Roc Nation to set up a Celebrity Promotion company. (no, me neither)
Last time I looked they were promoting themselves via, from their own press release, 'Marcus's (anti)food poverty campaigning and Raheem's anti-racism campaigning'.
Every year the term 'sports personality' is wilfully misunderstood.
It might help the more log-like to substitute 'celebrity' or 'persona' for 'personality' in their minds thus doing away with the need to display their ongoing dullardity to the rest of us.
