Trying to find scary book about a witch

When I was about 11/12 I remember picking a book from the young person's section at the local library and it was a book about a witch, but looking back I don't think I'd be happy giving it to a person that young, I'd love to know what it was. A young girl lived with her mother, who was a witch, but not a green faced hooked nose witch. It was set more than 100 years ago and the mother used to draw eyes all the time, and late at night a man used to come round and they would cut dead bodies in the basement, once they found a worm inside a man's intestine. I never finished the book but I want to know what it is to see if it is as bad as I remember. Sorry for being so vague.
