The Bay - Spoiler Alert!

I have watched 5 of the 6 episodes of The Bay and i have to say i am enjoying it. But - and there's always a but - in episode 4, it transpires that irregular betting has taken place on the boxing match the murdered man (Saif) was to have taken part in.
Head cop says he wants names of all those who have had a bet on the bout so CID visit Morecambe's bookies and, in one, get such a list. Nonsense! When you place a bet in a betting shop, your name does not go on the slip.
Also, when two fighters meet, unless one is a complete no-hoper, the odds are usually quite tight - say 5/6 the fav, 6/5 - 7/4 the 'outsider'. The sums of money wagered (£30 here, £50 there) would not have made the 'fixer' much of a profit (if any at all) given he had already forked out £2K+ to ensure the result of the bout.
Obviously none of the writers, actors, production staff, etc, etc, etc, had ever placed a bet in their entire lives.

You show me a bookies who won't accept cash Barry! A betting shop manager may know his regulars by their first names, he may even know where one or two live. But to produce such a detailed list would only be possible were all the bets placed on line.

Final episode watched and, on the whole, a fairly decent series. However, those events in episode 4 still rankle a tad:-(

Where did you watch all the episodes? I downloaded the first on Sky but its not showing any of the others to download.

Just another small criticism. Jamal is in the sixth form at school which makes him about 17 but he looks about 40 to me or is my eyesight failing?!!!!

Totally agree. Not very good casting, imho.

Sorry Tiggs, hadn't seen your post. The entire series was available on ITV Hub once the first episode had aired.
