I think there's a lot of over-analysis of this series.

Ashes in Australia is always difficult. Add to that that our players are touring abroad during a pandemic and we were always likely on a hiding. The European Ryder Cup team found something similar.

Yes. The England cricket set up needs a thorough examination. I think lately too much importance has been put one the one day game and the five day game needs more work on. Also Chris Silverwood is doing two jobs, Selector and Head Coach, and this needs to stop, and he should go because of his odd selections and decisions.

It was sad listening. Geoff Boycott will doubtless comment in his column in the Telegraph Sport. The commentators focussed (and I agree with them) on the near-death condition of County cricket and the growth of all these 1-day events. Not good enough preparation for Test Cricket.
