Maybe the difference is because the Schumachers are hugely wealthy whereas Kate Garroway, whilst no where near being on the breadline, still has to work for a (good)living. Perhaps she needs the money she receives for these programmes and her book, to pay for Dereks care.
I didn’t watch the programme, it doesn’t interest me.
Sqad, there was a time when I would have thought your post above was outrageous. Have to admit it makes sense to me now.

I think Kate has been given ample time/attention in the media and, tbph, I no longer bother to read/watch she has to say. I know how busy she must be but I am equally sure there are many who do not have all the back-up she has who are caring for their loved ones and probably with less hype. God bless them all.
As Sqad has said there are plenty of people really struggling to care for their very sick loved ones.
People who have had to stop work to look after their spouse - and try to manage on the Carers Allowance of £67.60 week and their savings.

Money doesn't make you happy but it certainly helps in situations like this
Smow. Imagine you've had a great marriage....you've cared for each other in every way and you've been a wife and lover sharing everything.

Then suddenly that is taken away...out of the blue you become a nurse and carer. Yes, you may be in a position to have others come into your home to do all the caring...meeting all the needs but it's bloody hard to let go. To stand aside and watch others doing what you feel you should be doing but knowing that it's knackering physically and emotionally is far from easy.
You get no respite from how you are feeling. Leaving him to work, shop or care for children doesn't give you that. It's with you all the time.
As for being bored with them....isn't that a luxury to have? Easily remedied though.
Like choux, I don’t read what she says any more. I can’t watch stuff like this anyway. Too depressing.
Kate Garroway has carried on working. Getting up at an unearthly hour, sorting things out at home before getting a taxi in order to get her to the studios in time for 6.0 a.m. This programme is helping to highlight the plight of hundreds of families caring for Covid victims. Each one with different circumstances.
Whilst I feel sad at the problems facing all those people would we remember a programme about 'Joe Bloggs or 'Mrs. Smith' from up the road ? Probably not but a tv personality is someone that most of us can relate to.
Exactly, Andres. Nobody would have been interested enough to watch a programme about my eleven years but I'm glad that some will, from this, have more of an idea of what is involved and the effect it has on a family.
She, using her platform, is no different to some of us using AB as a platform for what may be happening in our lives...but she is in the position of reaching a wider audience.
Hadn’t thought of it from that point of view gness x
Each of us deal with this in our own way, some share and some bottle it up - there's no right or wrong about how you handle it.
No one has to watch or read about another's journey unless they want to.
I just don't watch sob story television.
Nor me, lottie.
Nor did I, there's a wealth of choice out there to watch.
Things about long lost family with Davina McCall make me squirm.
I haven't watched it but I do have sympathy for her and her family. A friend of mine is a sole carer for her disabled mother and she had to give up her job to look after her.
