I had a chat with John Thomson at a Drum Show - he used to be a drummer before he became an actor.

I told him about the time I was parking my car at a supermarket and the radio announcer said, with great affectation, "And now, here's Mel Hill with ... THE JAZZ!!"

And I said, far more loudly than I intended, "NICE!!!"

But my car door was open, and the woman parking next to me ran into the supermarket, probably thinking I was talking to her!

I thought I was going to be helping the police with their enquries!!

Mr Thomson laughed, and said he would repeat story as a cautionary tale for anyone who mimics their heroes in public.
